How To Choose Your Dining Set
CHOOSING YOUR DINING TABLE
SIZE & SHAPE
Measure your space to work out the area your new dining table must fit. Figure out the length and width of your allocated space, then minus 80 to 100cm from each dimension. We recommend leaving around 90cm of space on all sides to avoid a cramped dining area and ensure a welcoming, comfortable environment for you and your diners.
Once you know size, you'll also want to think about the shape of both your table and your room. As a rule, square and circular dining tables look best in square rooms, but will look and feel awkward in rectangular spaces. Instead, rectangular and oval-shaped tables best suit rectangular rooms.
If you're struggling to find the right table for your space, choose a bespoke dining table crafted to your desired dimensions. Each of our bespoke designs is specifically tailored to the shape and size you require, ranging from 100 to 250cm in a square, round, rectangular or oval shape.
MATERIALS
When thinking about materials, consider how you'll be using your table. As you'll be enjoying daily meals, dinner parties and maybe even using it as a desk, we recommend choosing a highly durable tabletop material like the heat- and scratchproof Ceramic Marble or Ceramic Slate tabletops you'll find on our Henley tables.
For further customisability, you can also choose the material of your base. If you like a more timeless, traditional look, our Premium Grade Teak legs soften up the look of each Henley table, while the chic Powder-coated Aluminium presents a more modern option.
STYLE
As your dining table is an investment piece you'll love and use for many years to come, it's essential to consider the longevity of the style you choose. That's why we create our Henley tables in staple hues of black, grey, brown and white which will always be on-trend. They're also dependable colours to accessorise and dependable if you do decide to redecorate the surrounding room.
CHOOSING YOUR DINING CHAIRS
SIZE
Once you know what your priorities are, you can determine your ideal chair width. This all depends on what you want from your dining set - lots of seating, more open space, etc. If you’re torn between buying a set of 2, 4, 6 or 8 chairs (or more), think about how many chairs you'll need for daily use and weigh this up against how many you'd need for big parties or entertaining.
As a rule, make sure to leave 15cm from chair to chair and around 90cm between each chair and wall/other furniture in the dining room.
MATERIALS
As with dining tables, there are two areas of material to consider - the chair seat and the chair legs.
For the chair seat, think about how easy it will be to clean up after any spillages, especially if you have young children. We crafted our Richmond Dining Armchair with this in mind, using a gorgeous stain-resistant, weatherproof Honeycomb Fabric specially designed to dry quickly. Or, for a touch of the organic, our Cliveden Dining Armchairs bring the style of outdoor furniture inside, combining a handwoven Pewter rattan seat with one of our exclusive Grey Fully Waterproof Cushions for added comfort as well as protection.
Choosing your chair leg material comes down to your design preference. To match our tables, each of our Tailored Dining chair options comes with your choice of Teak or Aluminium legs, which we recommend matching to your table to acheive your desired dining look.
STYLE
We believe that dining armchairs are the ultimate in comfort and provide any dining room with an added touch of luxury. Not only do they make leaving the table easier for the elderly, but they also provide a sublime level of overall comfort.
