Well, that went by in a flash didn't it? We're not talking the five-minute, career of last year's, X-Factor winner, but the Great British Summer 2015. We've had the obligatory rain, a touch of sunshine and six glorious weeks with your little darlings at home. But it's not over just yet, and while the new uniforms are pressed, hung up and ready to go, there's still the last Bank Holiday to enjoy with the family.
It's the perfect few days to refresh your home and splash out on a few, new bits and pieces for an autumnal update. And where better to head than to Bridgman, where our doors will be open all weekend and we will be gearing up for the launch of our new range of interior furniture in September. We promise you, it's definitely worth the wait, so do come along and ask questions about the new collection that will be in store in September. Watch this space!
For some, Bank Holidays are all about catching up on a few, long-overdue DIY jobs. Whether that means a fresh coat of paint for the living zone or a complete, room-by-room declutter, why not get all of the family involved by planning a painting party complete with music, overalls and brushes, or throw a competition as to who can tidy up their bedrooms the quickest?
Of course, you might want to get out and about for the last, long weekend before the school and work term reboots in September. Pack a picnic or a disposable BBQ and head for the park or beach with a large crowd in tow - if we're not due for an Indian summer simply chuck in the raincoats and fleeces. Or if you live too far from the coast, make a beeline for one of the many, man-made beaches that are cropping up all over the country. The Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in Stratford, East London, has been transformed into a gigantic beach (www.beacheast.co.uk) thanks to 2,200 sq m of sand, a huge paddling pool and funfair rides. It's free to get in and open 24 hours a day, but do hurry though, as come Monday 31st August it'll all be gone.
Don't despair if the heavens have opened, as there are still so many great (and easy-on-the-purse) activities to do with the family. Check out what's going on at your local museum and leisure centre, or stay indoors, stock up the craft box out and get artistic for the day. Little ones will love the fun and creative mayhem of messing around with bright pots of paint, glitter shakers, coloured paper and stickers (do protect your table and floor coverings with tough, wipeable plastic sheets though!). The result: priceless works of art to hang up around your home with pride...
What are you planning to do on this August Bank Holiday weekend? And are you gearing up for the new Bridgman interior furniture collection? We'd love to hear your thoughts!
